As you begin your journey to becoming a Redhawk, Orientation Programs will be here alongside you each step of the way!
Orientation is a hybrid experience that includes online tasks, virtual workshops, and in-person events on campus. The purpose of Orientation is to provide you with the tools needed for a successful transition to college life at Seattle University.
We know the Transfer Student experience is unique and different than that of our incoming first time in college students. We have events planned specifically for you to help you navigate the transition from your prior institution to your new home at Seattle University. Please review our timeline for important dates this summer:
In-person events for transfer students are an opportunity for you and your family to join us on campus to connect with current Seattle University students, faculty, and staff, learn more about what it means to be a Redhawk, and get ready for classes to start in September! These include the following:

Tranfer Student Orientation is a one-day experience for you and your family to join us on campus in August to learn about essential campus resources and find your flock of new friends. We strongly encourage you to attend Tranfer Student Orientation so you can be prepared to start classes in the Fall. However, participation is not a required part of Orientation.
Transfer Student Orientation takes place on Thursday, August 29. Check-In starts at 8:15am and the Closing Session ends at 4:00pm (followed by an optional Campus Resource Fair). Overnight housing is not provided for students attending Transfer Student Orientation. Please do not finalize travel plans to attend the Transfer Orientation session before you receive confirmation of your RSVP, as space is limited.
GUESTS
There is a $45 fee for each guest who attends Tranfer Student Orientation, which covers meals and program supplies. Overnight housing is not provided for Guests. Guest fees can be paid with a debit or credit card. The guest fee must be paid at the time of signing up. Only students can log into their Orientation Portal to access and complete the RSVP form for Redhawk Launch. We strongly encourage students and any guests to complete their RSVP form together so you may coordinate dates and travel plans.
CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS
After you submit your RSVP, you will receive an email to confirm you are signed up. You and your guests will also receive a confirmation email if you sign up any guests. Two weeks before your session, we will send you a reminder email that includes instructions for parking and arrival to campus.
Your Orientation Portal is a central hub for navigating your transition to college. It is the home of your New Student Checklist and your go-to spot to sign up for virtual and in-person events. We’ll send you weekly emails with updates and reminders to let you know when new tasks become available and when event sign-ups go live. You can access your Orientation Portal by logging into your Admissions Portal and clicking on the "Orientation Portal" button.
The New Student Checklist is a list of all required tasks you need to complete before starting classes in September. The information below is the same as you will see on your New Student Checklist in your Orientation Portal, however, you need to complete these tasks in your Orientation Portal. Please review the list below to learn more about the required tasks you need to complete before you arrive on campus.

Completing your Housing Plan helps to inform us whether you plan to live on-campus or commute to campus. You can fill out your Housing Application or Housing Exemption in the Housing Portal. For more information about completing a Housing Plan and on-campus living, review your Guide to Residence Hall Living. NOTE: Students who are Junior Transfer and Senior Transfer status are exempt from completing this task and will not see if displayed on their New Student Checklist
Washington State Law requires that information on meningococcal disease must be provided to every student prior to class registration. Submitting this form will acknowledge you have read the provided information.

Voices for Change is an online program designed to promote a healthier and safer campus environment for everyone. Seattle University requires all incoming students to complete the program prior to attending classes. Module topics include inclusive community, sexual misconduct, bystander intervention, alcohol and other drugs, hazing, and bullying. You will receive an email from “Get Inclusive” on July 1, 2024, with instructions to access your learning modules.
All Seattle University students are provided a photo ID called a Campus Card, which gives you access to printing, your meal plan, and campus buildings including the library, gym, and residence halls. You may upload a photo online through your New Student Checklist. You will receive your Campus Card when you come to campus in September. During your Advising Appointment, you will meet with an Academic Advisor to sign up for your Fall Quarter 2024 classes. Transfer Students will be able to schedule an appointment starting June 3.
This form is designed to collect information that will be used by your Academic Advisor to create your class schedule. You will review this schedule with your Advisor during your advising appointment.
This checklist item will be marked as complete once you register for 12 or more credits.
For many new students, this may be your first election or your first Presidential election. We encourage you to register to vote before you start classes in the Fall as absentee ballot timelines and voter registration deadlines vary across states. Below, you will find information for how you can register to vote so you are prepared for Election Day on November 5, 2024!
Disability Services (DS) partners with the University community to recognize disability as a valued aspect of diversity and to embrace access as a significant component of social justice. The DS office facilitates equal access to courses, programs, and activities through campus leadership on disability access and inclusion issues.
Applying for Disability Services
Students who are requesting academic, housing, and meal plan accommodations for the first time at Seattle University are required to complete the New Student Application via myDS and meet with Disability Services before receiving services.
