Health Plans at a Glance
The University offers a choice of plans to staff and faculty so you can select the health coverage that best meets you and your family’s needs.
Medical
The University offers a choice of medical plans including Kaiser, Aetna PPO, and Aetna High Deductible plans. You are able to select the plan that best meets you and your family’s needs as you balance monthly premium with deductibles and other out-of-pocket costs.
Dental
Delta Dental of Washington provides Seattle University’s dental coverage. Delta Dental is a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) plan that will cover your dental claims both in and out of network.
Vision
VSP provides Seattle University’s vision coverage to staff and faculty and their families. If interested in vision coverage, you may choose between a 'core' and 'enhanced' vision plan.
Life Insurance
Life insurance protects your beneficiary from financial hardship in the event of your death. Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) provides a benefit if you die due to an accident or if you have suffered a loss of functionality. Seattle University pays 100% of the premium for Basic Life and AD&D insurance.
Flex Spending Account (FSA)
FSAs allow you to set aside pre-tax dollars to pay for eligible expenses each year. This means your contributions will be deducted from your paycheck before your pay is taxed. The University offers two FSAs: a health care spending account and a dependent care spending account.
Benefits Eligibility
You are eligible to enroll in Seattle University health and other insurance benefits if you are a staff employee who is regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week or if you are a faculty member assigned 17.5 (or more) work units in an academic year appointment. Faculty appointments must be for the full academic year to be eligible for life, accidental death/dismemberment and long-term disability benefits.

University Recreation
Enjoy free access to the fitness center and recreational programs, with cardio and strength floors, basketball and multi-activity courts, tennis and racquetball courts as well as a pool and saunas. Join a Group Fitness class or purchase a discounted Personal Training package. There are also Intramural leagues for volleyball, basketball, trivia and more!
Transit Passes and Parking Options
Staff and faculty can opt-in to pre-tax paycheck deductions for ORCA transit pass or on campus parking permits. Transit passes are 75% subsidized by the University for as little as less than $13 a month out-of-pocket for unlimited use.
Lemieux Library and McGoldrick Learning Commons
As the educational and physical heart of campus, the library offers a wide range of services and collections to support the teaching, research, and learning goals of our community. You’ll have free access to the Lemieux Library and McGoldrick learning Commons to check out books, resources, and more.
Athletic Events
All Seattle University benefits-eligible staff and faculty receive two (2) for all regular-season home men's basketball, women's basketball, men's soccer, women's soccer, volleyball and baseball games
Campus Store
Staff and Faculty shop with a 20% discount at the SU Campus Store when they show their University ID card. Stock up on Redhawk gear and accessories. The Store also stocks electronic, gifts, collectibles and more!
