UREC Facilities—Rec Center Where Everyone Belongs 

With more than 180,000 square feet of recreational, fitness and athletic space, you’ll find the space and support to play and train in whatever ways feel best to you. 
 
The Redhawk Center & Eisiminger Fitness Center (called UREC for short) is located on 14th and Cherry. UREC feature indoor space for fitness, swimming, strength, cardio and more.

Policies

Membership is restricted to Seattle University Students, Faculty, Staff, Alumni and Spouses/LDA/Dependents.

Valid SU ID or UREC Issued ID is required for member and registered user access

Guest passes can be purchased at the Member Services desk for $10 (per guest) but the guests must be accompanied by a current Member.

Memberships are non-transferable and non-refundable.

Capturing photo and video are prohibited in the facility, unless prior approval from UREC is granted.

A top that covers the nipples through all ranges of motion and closed-toed athletic shoes are required.

  • Talking on cell phones is prohibited while on the cardio or strength floor.
  • Dropping of weights is prohibited.
  • Utilize collars on all barbell lifts.
  • Water is allowed in shatterproof bottles.
  • Lock all personal belongings in a day use or purchased locker. Day-use lockers available at the Member Services Desk.

Children under the age of 16 are not permitted in cardio, strength and fitness areas. Anyone under the age of 16, must be supervised by an adult at all times. 

Reservations

UREC offers Seattle University groups the ability to reserve specific space in the Eisiminger Fitness Center for free. 

 Eligible Groups

  • Seattle University Student Clubs officially recognized by Student Government of Seattle University (SGSU)
  • Seattle University Departments

Reservation Request Details

  • Reservation must be requested at least two weeks in advance
  • Reservations may only be requested for dates in the current quarter. Future quarter dates will not be accepted.
  • Reservation times may not exceed three hours per day
  • No UREC equipment will be available for the reservation 
  • Reservation includes the use of the projector and/or stereo, but requires they bring their own auxiliary cord
  • If equipment is needed, they may bring their own equipment but it must be approved and meet our facility policies

Request a Reservation

Email your preferred reservation date, time and event details with a minimum of two weeks prior to your requested date.

A reservation is not necessary to utilize the racquetball or tennis courts but is highly recommended to ensure you are able to enjoy your activity without delay. To ensure the spaces are not reserved by another member or to make a reservation for your own usage, please visit the Fitness Center Member Services Desk or contact the Member Services Staff at 206-296-6441.

Racquetball Court Reservation Policies & Procedures:

  • Racquetball Courts are open whenever the Facilities are.
  • One court per person per day
  • Members may only reserve courts for the following purposes: squash, racquetball, handball, wallyball, table tennis, and/or court soccer.
  • Reservations cannot be made for longer than a three-hour period.
  • Reservations are made on a first come, first serve basis.
  • Reservations are not accepted more than one week (7 days) in advance.
  • Reservations are not accepted less than one hour in advance.

Tennis Court Reservation Policies & Procedures:

  • One court per person per day
  • Members may only reserve courts to play tennis.
  • Members are not allowed to utilize the courts for pecuniary gain (teaching lessons, etc.).
  • Reservations are not accepted more than one week (7 days) in advance.
  • Reservations are not accepted less than one hour in advance.

Any Saturday from 8-9am, your established Affinity group can reserve UREC for a private workout hour (strength & cardio floors, and studios). During your reservation, UREC will be staffed with a Personal Trainer and UREC Manager but will not be open to other members.

What is an Affinity Group?

An Affinity Group is an OMA recognized group on campus. 

OMA hosts regular opportunities for students of like identities to be in intentional community with one another.

What can I do during this hour?

Your group will have access to the Strength Floor, Cardio Floor and Studios. You may work out on your own, as a group, or work with one of our staffed Personal Trainers. All UREC policies must be followed during this time. 

Who can come?

Registered members of your recognized Affinity Group.

How do I get in?

UREC staff will be present before your start time to welcome you into the space and open the doors. You will still need your SU ID to enter.
