The interest in spirituality among Americans has grown during the past decade, and Seattle University faculty are among the leaders in this field. In response to requests from our alumni, the fall seminar will introduce participants to the latest thinking about matters of spirituality and the Spirit. Fr. Patrick Kelly, S.J., who taught in an Alumni Seminar two years ago, will provide an overview and update on the importance of Jesuit spirituality for life in the modern world. He will discuss such topics as discernment, contemplative prayer for active people, the Spiritual Exercises, psychology and spirituality, and other issues. He will be followed by faculty who teach contemporary spirituality for the Seattle University School of Theology and Ministry. They will bring us up to date on theological and spiritual writing on issues such as gender differences in the spiritual life, ecumenical spirituality, spirituality and ecology, eastern/western dialogue about spirituality, new methods of prayer, etc.
