Title:

Tseltal Mayan Four Directions Spiritual Ritual

Description: The Four Directions ritual is a traditional ritual performed in many Mayan spiritual congregations. A delegation from Chiapas, Mexico will lead the ceremony. The point of the ritual is to pray for the unity of heaven and earth, as represented by the Four Directions and their intersection. It is a very communal ritual in which the entire congregation is involved. Typically the gathering faces each direction as each prayer is said and then faces each other, and the altar in the middle, for the final prayer.
