Instructional Support Services

  • Instruction: Request class-integrated library instruction by contacting Lynn Deeken, (deekenl@seattleu.edu, 206.296.2341).
  • Course reserves: Place materials on reserve for a class.
  • Video/DVD booking service: Ensure that the video you want to show in class will be available
  • Subject research guides: Help students find books, articles, web sites, reference materials and other information resources on a subject.
  • Research path: Help students start a research paper.
  • Citing sources: Help students cite sources for research papers.
  • ARTstor: Faculty may request "Instructional Privileges" to ARTstor. This level of access allows for the creation of course folders with image groups. Faculty manage these folders and can set up student folders for the sharing of images and comments. If you are interested in this level of access please contact Jan Hartley (hartleyj@seattleu.edu -- ext.6206) for additional information and to set up a training appointment.

Research Support Services

  • Research consulations: Register for a one-on-one research consultation and collaborate with a librarian to facilitate your research.
  • Research space: Reserve a private study carrel for short term research projects by contacting Melissa Chamberlain (chambmel@seattleu.edu, extension 6222).
  • Acquisition help: Contact the Faculty Representative or Liaison Librarian for your department to assist in purchasing books for your research.
  • Interlibrary Loan: Obtain books and articles not owned by Seattle University.
  • Reciprocal onsite borrowing privileges: Through Summit, SU faculty have onsite access and borrowing privileges at many Northwest colleges and universities, including the University of Washington.
  • Cabell's Directory of Publishing Opportunities -- Help for potential authors to select those journals most likely to publish their manuscript. Currently covers 2000 journals in business (accounting, finance, management, marketing, economics), more than 700 journals in education (curriculum, administration, educational psychology), and 400 journals in psychology. Each entry includes Editor’s Name, Address, Phone, Fax, Email & Web Address; Manuscript Guidelines; Acceptance Rate Review Type, Process & Time; Number of Reviewers; Circulation & Price; & Type of Readership as well as specific journal guidelines.
