Welcome to Seattle University
We're delighted that you are joining Seattle University!
These webpages are designed to help you with your orientation as a new faculty member, and are intended to complement your experiences in our New Faculty Institute (NFI). NFI is organized by a planning team made up of representatives from the colleges on behalf of the Provost.
NFI has five goals:
1. To orient you to all aspects of life at Seattle University and begin the
process of building a sense of community for them at your new academic home
2. To explore further the Jesuit Catholic mission of the university and review the institution’s
strategic goals and initiatives
3. To discuss and review general strategies associated with teaching effectiveness and
student learning outcomes
4. To discuss and review the art of balancing teaching, scholarship and service
5. To provide opportunities for junior, tenure-track faculty to gather additional information
about rank and tenure procedures, timelines, and performance expectations in all three
professional areas to promote their success in the tenure-track process
The three-day NFI 2009 event took place from September 8-10, 2009. Click on NFI Dates above for information on follow-up sessions to further your orientation to Seattle University.
