Sophomores

It is not too late to enter Army ROTC or even win a 2YR scholarship! You can simply attend the Leader's Training Course (LTC) and enter the advanced course as a Junior. In special cases, the basic course can be compressed into 1 year. Your sophomore year is considered your second year in the basic course. During this year you will start to be put in leadership positions where you can pass on the knowledge from your freshman year to new freshman. These leadership roles will also give you the chance to begin to develop you leadership style.

The following are some of the areas of emphasis for your Sophomore year:

  • Role of the Officer and Noncommissioned Officer
  • Communications
  • Code of Conduct
  • First Aid
  • Principles of War
  • Military Operations and Tactics

What is the Leader's Training Course (LTC)?

Students who are not Basic Course Qualified will attend the Leader's Training Course (LTC) at Fort Knox, Kentucky. LTC is a 28-day, all expenses paid (travel, food, lodging) Leadership Development Program that satisfies the Basic Course Requirement. Through LTC students are provided the necessary training to ensure successes during the last two years for Army ROTC. While at LTC, instructors observe students and determine their officer potential in a leadership oriented, challenging, and motivating 28-day training program at Fort Knox, Kentucky. LTC is an exciting way to experience the ARMY. It is also a key step in the process of earning a commission as an Officer in the U.S. Army during the next two years on campus. This is a great opportunity to learn more about leadership, people, and most important, YOURSELF!

Students who complete LTC earn approximately $800.
