Step 1 Check your SU Email for the Registrar's notification of your registration access time and registration restrictions
When do I receive my Registrar's notification? Approximately 2 weeks prior to the scheduled advising period each quarter, you will be notified via SU email from the Registrar that the date and time of your access to the registration process is available for you to see on SU Online. This message is also a notification that you can view you student restrictions.
How does my access time work? Your access time is the earliest time in which you can register (officially sign up) for the courses you will take in the coming quarter. Your access time then continues until registration for the coming quarter is closed, but the longer you wait to register after that time the more people there will be who register for classes ahead of you. Access times are assigned to all students based on their number of earned credits.
- To view your registration time: Log on to SU Online; on the Student menu under the category "Registration", select "My Registration Dates" where you will find the time your access to registration begins. (You can always access SU Online from their MYSU page.
What is a registration restriction? Restrictions are essentially "holds" that prevent you from registering until you have met any university obligations specified on your "Student Restrictions" page. Read more about restrictions on Step 6.
- To view any restrictions: Log on to SU Online; on the Student menu under the category "Registration",select "Student Restrictions"
Use the SU Academic Calendar: check quarterly advising and registration dates and put them on your calendar.
