Olivia Kerwin graduated from University High School in Tucson, Arizona. She was the Mock Election Party Chair, a member of the Spanish Club and volunteered with La Rosa Healthcare Center. She was an active member of Amigos de las Americas, a youth-led organization that sends high school and college age volunteers to Latin American communities to partner with members of the local community on sustainable projects to improve their lives. With AMIGOS, Olivia volunteered in Honduras and Panama and served as a Veteran Trainer and Senior Trainer. In addition, Olivia was a senior dancer with the Arizona Ballet Theater, a member of the Primavera Dance Group and the Ivesia Dance Group. Olivia is an AP Scholar.

SU Experience

During her freshman year at Seattle University, Olivia was an intern in the office of Congressman Jim McDermott where she collaborated with staff on healthcare and veterans’ support projects. The summer following her freshman year, Olivia worked with an international organization in rural Panama managing high school volunteers in partnership with the Ministry of Health. As a sophomore, Olivia volunteered at El Centro de la Raza and she spent the following summer studying history and literature at la Universidad Centroamericana (UCA) in Managua, Nicaragua. Olivia worked as a TA for the Biology Department during her junior year. She has completed clinical rotations through the College of Nursing at Providence Marianwood, VA of Puget Sound, Seattle Children’s Hospital, Cascade Behavioral Health, and Providence Everett. Now in her senior year, Olivia is studying in Västerås, Sweden as part of a nursing exchange program with Mälardalen University. Olivia is a member of Alpha Sigma Nu and is on the Dean’s List for the College of Nursing. She is also fluent in Spanish and a member of Bicycool. The thing she enjoys most about the Sullivan Leadership Program is the Sullivan Community where she met many of her greatest friends and she is most grateful for the intentional space it creates within which she can reflect and grow.
