Our mission is to educate students to become critics and creators of communication who are driven to serve the common good, participate actively in their communities, and advocate for social justice. Students are educated in a diverse, equitable, and inclusive context that:

What makes our program special?
We prepare students to become effective and ethical communicators in a variety of contexts. All students must choose a specialization, but with the flexibility built into the curriculum, they may also double- or triple-specialize, provided they have room in their educational plan to do so.
Student Activities and Clubs
Build skills, explore career options and possibilities, and develop relationships with your peers, faculty, and professionals in a wide range of fields.
Debate Team
Participating on the Seattle University Debate Union is great training for a future career especially for lawyers, educators, marketers, scientists, social and political advocates, and any position where communicating effectively is important. Our students learn to collaborate with teammates, building a supportive group of friends that share interests. Students from any major and regardless of experience are welcome to participate. With supportive coaching, our program builds your communication skills, allowing you to take on new challenges and accomplish the goals you want to achieve.
Public Relations Student Society of America
Our PRSSA chapter is dedicated to providing members the resources needed for a smooth transition from academic scholars to public relations professionals.
The Spectator
Our award-winning, weekly student newspaper. The staff delivers campus news that is informed, engaging and reflective of the values of Seattle University.
Beyond the Classroom
Our students gain valuable, real-world experience through internships in a wide range of fields including arts and culture, PR firms, journalism, nonprofit organizations, government and politics, and corporations.
