About this Program

Students in the Business Analytics Certificate program will study topics such as relational database systems, multi-dimensional modeling, data warehousing, data mining, big data analytics, web analytics and business intelligence.

Learning Competencies

On successful completion of this program, students will be able to:

LC1. Identify and describe complex business problems in terms of analytical models.

LC2. Apply appropriate analytical methods to find solutions to business problems that achieve stated objectives.

LC3. Create effective courses of action based on business analytics projects that are also responsive to environmental and socio-economic concerns.

LC4. Demonstrate ethical and legal analysis and decision-making.

LC5. Communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences in speech, in writing, and graphically.

LC6. Exhibit effective collaboration and leadership skills.

Applicants must have

  • A minimum of an undergraduate degree from an accredited institution
  • A minimum of 2 years of full-time work experience
  • Competency in statistics
  • (Optional Official scores from the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) or the Graduate Records Examination (GRE)

Certificate Requirements

This certificate requires 18 credit hours of graduate courses.

  • IS 5200: Programming for Data Analytics
  • IS 5305: Data Management in Business
  • IS 5310: Machine Learning for Business
  • IS 5315: Big Data Analytics
  • IS 5325: Capstone Project for Business Analytics
