Graduate Scholarships

General Information About Graduate Program Scholarships

All admitted master's degree applicants, including online students, are considered for Seattle University Scholarships for Graduate Programs. This evaluation is based upon a review of all information received during the application process and available funding for the year.

Granted awards are renewable for multi-year programs if you make satisfactory progress toward degree completion. Scholarship amounts assume a full-time enrollment of minimally 6 quarter credits per term. If you decide to take less than 6 quarter credits, you will have your award amount pro-rated according to the number of credits you are taking.

If you would like to be considered for endowed scholarships, it may require additional documents. You may be notified after admission to the program depending upon the selection criteria for that particular award. If you are a domestic and permanent resident, we strongly encourage you to complete a FAFSA. This step allows you to be eligible for any need-based endowed or external scholarships, as well as graduate student loans.

Graduate Scholarship Opportunities

Award Amount

This award provides ten incoming Criminal Justice graduate students with a scholarship ranging from $2,400-$3,600 annually for two years.

Application Process

There is no separate application process to receive this award, however completing the FAFSA is required to be eligible for consideration.

If you are awarded this scholarship, you will generally be notified at the time of your acceptance into the program. About

The "Corr Scholarship” is named in honor of Eugene Corr, who is the co-founder of the Seattle University Criminal Justice Department and former Assistant Police Chief of Seattle Police Department. It is an annual award given to an incoming MACJ student who is a minority and/or woman employed and/or has previous experience in law enforcement. This person should also plans on pursuing a career in law enforcement after graduating from the MACJ degree program.

Amount

The Corr Scholarship award is a one-time award of $2,000.

About

Marion Helenkamp graduated from Seattle University in 1953, and she later went on to be the first-ever African American woman lieutenant in the L.A.P.D. At Ms. Helenkamp’s passing in 2015, her family generously donated a portion of her estate to our department.

Amount

The Criminal Justice Department awards the approximate $2,500 award each year to multiple undergraduate and graduate students based on need and merit.

About

The Blume Scholars Program was made possible by a generous donation by Ann and Bruce Blume. It was created to fund student scholarships and an endowment that will support scholars in perpetuity. The Blumes awarded the Department of Criminal Justice this generous fund to further important research, practice and service at the intersection between mental health and criminal justice.

Amount

The Criminal Justice Department awards the Blume Criminal Justice Scholarship to two students annually. One $2,500 award will go to one undergraduate and one graduate student. The award recipients will also serve as student members of the Criminal Justice Department's advisory committee.
