How to Apply-Certificate in Fundraising Leadership

1. Research the Certificate in Fundraising Leadership program to see if it’s right for you
   • Review program info on our website
     
   • Attend an Online Info Session
   • Schedule a meeting with an Admission Counselor
   • Schedule a meeting with the Program Director
   • Schedule a campus tour
   • Schedule a class visit
2. Review Admissions Dates & Deadlines
   • The certificate program offers a priority application deadline. After the priority deadline, applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.

Once you start an application you will be able to save your progress. You do not have to complete it all at once.

The Certificate in Fundraising Leadership application includes the following elements:

1. Resume
   • Provide a professional resume documenting your education, volunteer work and professional experience.
   • Having at least one year of relevant professional experience in the nonprofit sector, paid or unpaid, is preferred.
2. One short answer essay (250-500 words). Pick from the following prompts:
   • Describe your professional and personal goals and explain how you expect your education with the Certificate in Fundraising Leadership program to further those goals. OR
   • What questions do you have about nonprofit leadership, and how will your education with the Certificate in Fundraising Leadership program assist you to address those questions?
3. Two References
   
   • In the application, list of two recommenders with name, title, mailing address, phone number and email address who can comment on your professional abilities and potential for fundraising leadership. 
4. Bachelor’s Degree
   • Evidence of a four-year bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution.
   • Applicants earning a bachelor's degree from a non-graded institution must submit official GRE scores in lieu of GPA. 
5. Minimum of 3.00 GPA
   • As calculated from the last 90 quarter/60 semester credits of the bachelor’s degree, or post-graduate work, including transfer credits.
   • Upon a holistic review, applicants with less than a 3.00 GPA may be admitted on a probationary basis. 
6. Official Transcripts
   • Submit official transcripts for all post-secondary educational institutions attended, including any transfer credit earned during this time, and any post-baccalaureate course work to the Office of Graduate Admissions.
   • Transcripts may be mailed or submitted electronically to grad-application@seattleu.edu.
   • Applicants may be accepted to the program with unofficial transcripts. Once accepted to the program, students will need to submit official transcripts within their first quarter of enrollment to continue in the program.

1. Submit your application
   • Make sure you hit “Submit” on your application once it’s complete.

1. Check your status
   • You can login to check the status of your application anytime.
   • Submitted applications are only considered complete once all application materials have been received. This includes your recommendation forms or letters.
2. Monitor your email
   • Make sure to regularly check the email you listed on your application for updates, including your admission decision.
   • Applicants should review the application timeline for information on when to expect an admission decision.
