Japanese Education Abroad

Sophia University in Tokyo is one of the most prestigious universities in Japan. Seattle University has an exchange program with Sophia University. Students who study Japanese will be given priority to study abroad at Sophia. All the 3000 Japan related course credits earned at Sophia may fulfill the minor requirement, since Sophia will be treated as your “home” institution.

Apply For Your Major or Minor

The minor requires 35 credits (typically 5 language courses and two 3000 level 5-credit courses which focus on Japan) with the approval of the program. A maximum of 15 credits can be accepted from outside the institution. However, JPAN 3150 (Japanese Culture) must be taken at Seattle University.

 *All students must take at least 20 credits at Seattle University in order to obtain a minor.
