Alumni Leadership Awards
The Nonprofit Leadership alumni community recognized their peers at the program’s 25th anniversary celebration in 2019 by honoring three alums who have amplified the voices of others, advocated for social justice, and raised the power of the nonprofit and voluntary sector.
Marilyn Lopez, MNPL '15
Engage Award
Marilyn was recognized with the 2019 Engage Alumni Award as someone who amplifies the voices of others and is dedicated to creating an environment that encourages the involvement and engagement of the people most impacted by her work.
At the time of the award, Marilyn Lopez was recognized as a "force to be reckoned with" due to her dedication to amplifying the voices of marginalized individuals and fostering an inclusive environment in her role with Rainier Scholars. As a mentor and community leader, she actively engaged with the Latinx community and served as Vice-President of the Board of Girls on the Run Puget Sound. Her tireless commitment to supporting the most impacted members of society made her the ideal recipient of the 2019 Engage Alumni Award.
Katie Hultquist, MNPL '02
Engage Award
Katie was recognized with the 2019 Advocate Alumni Award as someone who amplifies issues and advocates for social justice.
At the time of the award, Katie Hultquist was recognized as a trailblazer and a deserving recipient of the 2019 Advocate Alumni Award for her remarkable advocacy for social justice. With over two decades of dedication to empowering leaders worldwide, Katie demonstrated her exceptional ability to drive change. As Regional Director with NPH, she co-founded a Leadership Institute for young leaders, and as West Coast Director for OutRight Action International, she played an instrumental role in advancing human rights for LGBTIQ individuals. Her extensive advocacy work, passion for fostering connections, and commitment to making a global impact made her the ideal candidate for this esteemed award.
Paul Beaudet, MNPL '96
Impact Award
Paul Beaudet was recognized with the 2019 Impact Alumni Award for his remarkable contributions to amplifying the power of the nonprofit and voluntary sector.
With a career spanning numerous organizations focusing on conservation, performing arts, science, education, and philanthropy, Paul showcased an exceptional blend of skill, vision, and commitment. His dedication to building capacity within the sector was evident through his roles on the Advisory and Governing Boards for the Center of Effective Philanthropy and the Environmental Grantmakers Association. Paul's leadership style, characterized by confidence, compassion, and a knack for cultivating leadership in others, made him an exemplary recipient of this prestigious award.
