Learn more about Seattle University’s Master of Arts in Psychology Advisory Board.

The MAP Advisory Board provides guidance to the faculty on curriculum. Board members also serve as mentors to students and alumni and assist with career planning. They also support the development of seminars, workshops, and conferences for students and the broader community of psychotherapists.

Pura H. Butances, MA Psychology, LMHC

Pura has dedicated most of her professional career to work with the urban poor in primary care; and to understand trauma and its effects, to assist in the process of healing and growth.

Joseph Guppy, MA Psychology

Joe has more than 15 years of counseling experience in community agencies and in private practice. He is currently a psychotherapist in private practice, working with adults, couples, and young adults; and has led workshops on creative teamwork and communication, meditation, sexuality, suicide prevention, anger management, and creative writing; for retreats, schools, spiritual organizations, community, and youth groups.

Evonne Noble, MA Psychology, LMHC, Puget Sound Psychotherapy

In her clinical work at Mercer Island Youth and Family Services, Evonne provides counseling services to children, teens, adults, and families. In her role as Director of the Seattle Relationship Clinic at Puget Sound Psychotherapy, Evonne manages a team of counselors, creates training and educational events, and provides relationship counseling and individual therapy to adults.

Noreen M. Weihe, MA Psychology (SU, ’22), LMHC

Noreen is a therapist in Seattle. She sees teens, adults, and couples, and takes special interest in helping couples heal their relationship and regain closeness. Working with teens is an exciting challenge, as she enjoys helping them navigate the path to independence. Staying connected to SU is an important value as is community work with the newly formed Matumaini Counseling, an agency formed by two SU graduates which serves low-income African American youth and their families.
