The Master of Legal Studies (MLS) Sports Law is for students who seek an education focused on the legal issues pertaining to the sports industry.

Students may work in league governance, intellectual property, sponsorships, event production, venue management, contract management, employment and labor negotiations, and in many other areas of sports business.

The purpose of the MLS degree program* is to educate professionals who work in areas related to the law by providing them with knowledge of legal principles and law related to the sports industry.

  • Full- and part-time options
  • One-year program for full-time students
  • Two-year program for part-time students

*ABA requirements do not allow MLS coursework to count toward a future Juris Doctorate (JD) degree. The MLS does not enable you to sit for a bar exam or practice law.

Students in the MLS Sports Law program are required to take a minimum of three (3) core courses, unless waived.

The MLS Sports Law track is specifically tailored to the individual student’s area of interest depending on the student’s professional goals and learning objectives.
