About this Program

Advance Your Legal Career in Seattle’s Global Tech Industry

Seattle has emerged as a leading global hub for the technology industry. The city hosts a remarkable base of knowledge, talent, and opportunity that inspires our Master of Laws (LLM) in Innovation and Technology Law program.

The program addresses the substantial need for a new cadre of legal service professionals who are well-trained in the underlying regulatory schemes and well-versed in the technological and strategic features that define the newest methods of doing business.

The program is intended for foreign- and U.S.-trained attorneys who wish to focus their studies in the areas of privacy, cybersecurity, digital commerce, and financial technology.

With part-time options and evening classes, you can choose the schedule that is best for you:

  • 24 credits
  • Fall Semester Start
  • Full Time (9-12 months) or Part Time (18-24 months)
  • Evening Classes for Working Professionals

Upon completion, foreign students may be eligible to sit for the bar exam in Washington, California and several other states.

In-Person Classes, Online Options

Classes are generally taught in-person, with some online options.

Several state bar associations will not allow an applicant to qualify for the bar exam if the applicant took online classes. Our staff can help you review requirements for the exam you plan to take.

Prepared for the Bar Exam

Our staff will work with you to determine bar eligibility and design a customized course of study for the bar exam.

The law school also offers a free, two-month Supplemental Bar Exam course twice each year to LLM students and recent graduates to assist you in your bar exam preparation.
