About this Program

In-Demand Tech Law Education to Further Your Business Career

The Master of Legal Studies (MLS) Technology, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship is for students who seek a legal education focused on technology law and its intersection with business.

Students may work on a variety of legal issues including: non-disclosure and non-competition agreements; shareholder and founder agreements; customer agreements; supplier agreements; development contracts; intellectual property; securities and IPOs; corporate governance; banking; compliance; real estate; consulting; human resources; government; technology; and nonprofits.

The purpose of the MLS degree program* is to educate professionals who work in areas related to the law by providing them with knowledge of legal principles and law related to technology and business.

Students may work in a variety of organizations—from startups to biotech companies to banking.

The MLS program requires the completion of 30 credits, which includes required courses and a specific number of core courses, with the remaining credits chosen from approved electives and independent study.

All MLS students in this program will be required to take:

Core courses

Students in the MLS Tech Law program are required to take a minimum of four (4) core course, unless waived.

Elective courses

Students in the MLS Technology, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship program may take electives to complete the required 30 credits, including the following, in consultation with program staff.

The Technology, Innovation & Entrepreneurship, MLS, track is specifically tailored to  students’ areas of interest depending on their professional goals and learning objectives.

The purpose of the MLS degree program is to educate professionals who work in areas related to the law by:

  • Providing them with general knowledge of law and
  • Specific knowledge of technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship law.
