First Year Commuter Connections Family Kickoff

Our Commuter Connections Family Kickoff is a hosted BBQ for First Year Commuter students and their families and supporters. As a local community member and a new student, we are eager to connect and introduce you to resources available specifically for you! You'll have the chance to:

  • Meet other first-year commuter students and learn where they live in the area!
  • Join a walking ​​​​tour of commuter spaces and resources on campus!
  • Connect with fellow local Redhawk families at dinner on the Quad!

Event: Thursday, August 22 from 3:00pm-6:45pm PDT

Guests: You can include up to 2 guests when you RSVP. There is no fee for students or guests to attend this event. 

Deadline: Signups are due on Tuesday, August 20, 2024.

ARRIVAL
The event and Check-In will take place in the Student Center. If you are planning to park, park in the Murphy Garage and follow the directions in your email to navigate to the Student Center. If you plan to use public transit, please use King County’s Trip Planner.

CHECK-IN
Check-In for all students and guests will take place at 3:00pm in the Student Center. You will receive more details about the check-in location in an email closer to the event date.

Parking Permits
Parking on campus during the day will be free for students and their guests while attending Commuter Connections.
If you plan to park on campus, you must request a parking permit via the link we will send you via text message and email on the morning of your session. This link will be sent to all students and guests who have RSVP’d.

Parking Location
Students and guests may only park in the Murphy Garage. Please use the following address to navigate to the Murphy Garage at Seattle University: 1001 East James Way, Seattle, WA, 98122.

From Parking to Check-In
After parking in Murphy Garage go to the elevator and press "SB" for the Skybridge. From there you'll enter a glass hallway that leads you directly to the Student Center's 3rd Floor. Pass the double doors and take either the stairs or the elevator to the 1st Floor for Check-in.

3:30 PM Welcome & Commuter Social You'll be welcomed by campus leaders and the Orientation Team. Students meet their Orientation Leader and get to know fellow Commuter Students. 
4:50 PM Link Tour The Links are physical student lounge spaces located throughout campus to support the day-to-day needs of our various student populations, including commuters!
6:00 PM Family BBQ Students and guests will reconnect for dinner provided by campus dining. 
6:45 PM Conclusion The event will end after you've eaten your dinner.

You'll be welcomed by campus leaders and the Orientation Team. Guests will separate from students to learn about the challenges of student transition from high school to college and ways you can support your new Redhawk.
4:50 PM Link Tour The Links are physical student lounge spaces located throughout campus to support the day-to-day needs of our various student populations, including commuters!
6:00 PM Family BBQ Students and guests will reconnect for dinner provided by campus dining. 
6:45 PM Conclusion The event will end after you've eaten your dinner.
