Public Humanities Info Session

A flyer about a seminar for public humanities

Faculty are invited to attend this information session and meet-and-greet with the leadership of Humanities Washington to learn about how you may participate in public humanities in our state and receive funding and support for it through programs such as the Public Humanities Fellows and a Speakers' Bureau.

Thanks to Associate Dean Maria Bullon-Fernandez's service on the board of Humanities Washington, we are fortunate to have the organization's Executive Director Julie Ziegler and Director of Programs Stone Addington at this meet-and-greet over coffee/tea and cookies, at the John Popko Faculty Lounge on December 5th , 12:30-1:30 p.m.

Curated by Arielle Simmons

Though often dismissed as a matter of vanity, our hair has held a richly symbolic place across cultures throughout human history. In their work, artists Nadia Ahmed, Shiloh Davies, Thalía Gochez, and Lisa Jarrett consider hair’s importance as a malleable extension of ourselves. They show the power of hair in representing our self-determined identity, signaling community or heritage, and even the passage of time and space.
