New and Prospective Students
Whether you are an admitted or prospective first-year undergraduate or graduate student, transfer student or readmitted student, the Arts and Sciences Advising Center can provide personalized advising or connect you with the appropriate campus resources.
Admissions information, requirements, and processes can be found at either Undergraduate Admissions or Graduate Admissions.
Admitted transfer students receive personalized advising and registration assistance in their first quarter from the Arts and Sciences Advising Center and cross-campus colleagues at their mandatory New Transfer Student Advising Appointment and Transfer Orientation. Detailed information on these requirements can be found in the applicant portal checklist.
To schedule an advising appointment to explore degree requirements and transfer credit information, please call 206-296-2840. Prior to this appointment, consider attending an Admissions Transfer Friday event and visiting the Transfer Admissions website for admission requirements, timeline information, online application, financial aid, and student life.
Students who complete an approved Associates degree (DTA) will be guaranteed junior standing (90 quarter transfer credits) upon admission to Seattle University, and 8 of the University Core requirements will be waived. The following five Core courses must be taken at SU or another Jesuit institution:
- UCOR 2100 Theological Explorations
- UCOR 2500 Philosophy of the Human Person
- UCOR 2900 Ethical Reasoning
- one UCOR 3000 level Global Challenges course dependent on your major
- one Capstone course in your major.
In order to better prepare for a smooth transfer into your major, we encourage you to review the Junior Transfer Typical Program of Study documents on the Academic Program page for your major. Contact us for more information about a supplemental list of recommended courses according to your major. Note that these are not admission pre-requisites, but recommended courses to consider taking prior to transfer if your current institution offers them.

Readmitted students receive personalized advising and registration assistance from the Arts and Sciences Advising Center prior to their first quarter back at Seattle University. Advising and registration appointments are approximately 30 minutes and designed to accomplish three goals:
- Completion of course registration.
- Development of an educational plan.
- Re-introduction to academic resources.
