Earth Month EcoChallenge with PRIZES!

Description: The goal of "EcoChallenge" is for individuals to take action for a better shared future. This year's Earth Month EcoChallenge focuses on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Pick a personal action and take your small step to make our common home a healthier, more equitable, and sustainable place. Actions range from one-time, such as committing 10 minutes to learn about endangered species and daily actions, such as tracking your single-use plastic usage. The top 3 winners from the SEATTLEU team will receive a $25 gift card to Frankie & Jo’s, Mighty-O Donuts, the Elliott Bay Bookstore, OR a donation on their behalf to an environmental organization of their choosing!
Earth Month at Residence Halls: DO MORE TO SAVE MORE!
When: All Month!
Where: Campion, Xavier, Bellarmine and Chardin residence Halls
Description: Residence halls are committing to "Do More to Save More"! What's to expect during Earth Month 2022? A display with your residence hall's performance for water and energy use will be traveling from hall to hall to inform residents and spur action. Student residents: your knowledge will then be tested at the "EARTH MONTH" trivia night on April 29 (see details below). This initiative is sponsored by RHA, CEJS, and SU Facilities.
Meatless Mondays at Fusion
When: 4/4, 4/11, 4/18, 4/25 from 10:45 a.m.–2 p.m.
Where: Fusion in Cherry Street Market
Description: Part of Redhawk Dining’s Earth month celebration will be Meatless Mondays all month long! Stop by Fusion to enjoy entirely meatless and delicious meals. These vegetarian and vegan options will show Redhawks you can still enjoy a flavorful and protein-packed meal without traditional animal proteins!

Tree Planting at SU - SUPK

Climate Anxiety Panel & Discussion

Description: This event will help you understand your climate anxiety, process it through action, and end with a discussion on how to implement these actions in our own community. The anonymous answers from this Padlet will be directly addressed by our panel consisting of Emily Wright, an adjunct professor of Environmental Beliefs and Behaviors and Moji Igun, the founder of Blue Daisi Consulting, a zero waste & sustainability consulting group for small businesses. If you have not filled out the Padlet yet, please do so. This event is open to all SU students, faculty, and staff, and co-hosted by CEJS and EVST (Environmental Studies). Please RVSP HERE if you will join in-person as there is limited space available! There is no need to RVSP if you will be joining virtually.
Edible Garden Teaching Kitchen

Description: April’s Teaching Kitchen will be with chef Mark Fortino and his sous chefs will be a member of SGSU. The Teaching Kitchen will showcase all of the edible gardens around campus and how to utilize them in a plant-based meal!
Rain Garden Raffle!
When: April 20-22, 11 a.m.–2 p.m.
Where: Middle table in the Student Center, second floor
Description: Engineers for a Sustainable World will be selling tickets for a 50/50 Cash Pot Raffle where students will be able to purchase one ticket for $5 or three for$10. On Friday, 4/22, the winner will be drawn, and 50% of the pot will be their winning, while the other 50% will go towards the Rain Garden fundraiser.

HeartBeet Restaurant Takeover at Fusion

Where: Fusion in Cherry Street Market
Description: Redhawk Dining and Engineers for a Sustainable World are partnering to put on a farm-to-table restaurant takeover with local vegan, gluten-free restaurant HeartBeet! Ten percent of your meal will be donated to the Rain Garden project on campus. Also, stop by the 2nd floor of the Student Center to talk to ESW members about Earth Day, why sustainable practices are important, and to get your free stickers, buttons and bookmarks with information!
EARTH TALKS 2022

Description: Join us for the 3rd edition of Earth Talks, a virtual showcase of short, 5-minute presentations by SU students, faculty, staff, and community partners. The theme this year is Just Sustainability: Care for our Common Home. The event will be held across 2 sessions on Earth Day, April 22, 2022 with a diverse array of topics including research, service, community projects, and artwork as well as a Q&A session with keynote speakers, Senator Rebecca Saldaña and David Mendoza. ESW Plant Sale
When: April 22, 11 a.m.–2 p.m.
Where: Student Center, second floor
Description: Engineers for a Sustainable World will be hosting a plant sale where students will be able to purchase indoor plants on campus to raise money to build a rain garden on the Bellarmine flagpole lawn in Fall '22. Small plants $5, medium plant $10, large plant $20.
ESW Fundraiser at Drip Tea

Description: Drip Tea is partnering with Engineers for a Sustainable World and donating 50% of every purchase that mentions ESW to ESW's rain garden fundraiser.
SDG Focus Event: Food Security & Sustainable Agriculture
When: April 25, 4-5 p.m.

Description: Curious about how we can advance food security and sustainable agriculture in our society and within our Seattle University community? Join us for our SDG Focus Event on Food Security & Sustainable Agriculture to learn more about the United Nations’ 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). At the event, we will then take a deep dive into the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal #2: Zero Hunger which aims to “end hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture”. Attendees will learn about both external and internal resources, opportunities, and other initiatives they can join to actively work towards addressing the hunger crisis and restructuring food systems. Speakers will include Real Escape for the Sex Trade (REST), who will talk about their work on food security within the sex trafficking survivor population.
Indigenous Plant and Food Traditions

Description: This event will feature Indigenous and non-Indigenous plant experts offering introductions to Indigenous relationships with plants, storytelling, plant walks, and hands-on learning experiences with plants, including salve or lip balm making. Green Hawks! Let’s Talk!: Incorporating Sustainability into the School Curriculum

Description: Ever felt like sustainability could be more of a priority in your classes? Ever felt unsure of how to initiate a conversation surrounding environmental justice or how to advocate for a change in course outcomes? Head to the Union Green* on Tuesday the 26th during the lunch hour to chat with students about your experiences navigating your major’s curriculum in regards to sustainability. This event is created by students for students, and all majors are welcome!
