BETH-5120 : Business Ethics and Social Responsibility

Business Ethics | Albers School of Business | GR

Provides students with an understanding of the social and natural environments within which moral issues in business arise. Within this framework it introduces students to both the ethical concepts and ethical principles, and the reasoning and analytical skills needed to resolve those moral dilemmas. MBA students may not receive credit for both MBA 5120 and BETH 5100.

BIOL-2350 : Invertebrate Zoology

Survey of invertebrate phyla, including their anatomy, morphology, taxonomy, and ecology.  Includes current methods in the study of biodiversity science, including collection of specimens in the field, curation, and DNA barcoding techniques.  Four lecture and three laboratory hours per week.

BIOL-2520 : Plant Systematics

Biology | College of Science and Engineering | UG

Plant systematics surveys the phylogeny (including methods of phylogenetic inference), evolution, ecology, paleobotany, and taxonomy of plants while emphasizing native flora. Three lecture and four laboratory hours per week. One weekend field trip is required.

Study will focus on relevant viruses important for understanding lifecycles, human and animal disease and immune system interactions. Natural and sexual selection, evolutionary genetics, phylogenetics and macroevolution, evolution and health, and special topics. Study of the marine environment, with a focus on ecology and diversity of marine systems. A combination of foundational marine science concepts and contemporary applied marine conservation issues will be explored. Goals include gaining a broad understanding and an increased fascination for why animals behave as they do and developing the skills to create and answer questions in this field of biology.
