About this Course

In this course, you will explore the challenges and opportunities of achieving sustainability that is ecologically sound and socially just.  We will learn how the different disciplines in the natural sciences, social sciences and humanities understand the drivers of environmental change and approach sustainability, social equity and environmental justice. In-class and through your own research, you will critically assess environmental problems and learn about creative solutions.  We will explore how people in Seattle and around the world are researching new ideas, developing and testing innovative policies, and contesting conventional conception of progress as we seek out new solutions and ways to create sustainable societies.
