Elise DeGooyer

Elise DeGooyer is a life-long Pacific Northwesterner who continues to seek religious literacy. She is most interested in the ways multi-faith traditions inspire hope and action for justice. As an undergrad at Gonzaga University, her studies in religion and communications were broadened by ecumenical perspectives and later enriched by service with the Jesuit Volunteer Corps. Graduate studies in liberation theologies at Maryknoll School of Theology and in pastoral leadership at Seattle University expanded her vision. Interfaith awareness and collaboration was shaped by the Beijing International Women’s Conference and Parliament of World Religions. These learnings have been brought to life through decades of experience in human services and advocacy. Through her previous leadership at Faith Action Network and in this course, Elise values dialogue that helps shape meaning and impacts community wellbeing.
