Guests and Tickets

Graduating students may reserve up to 20 guest tickets. Students will receive an email from the Commencement team with instructions to request their tickets.
- Graduating students do not require a guest ticket.
- All guests age 3 and above will require a guest ticket.
- There is no cost associated with a guest ticket.
If you have guests from outside the United States requiring a travel visa letter, please follow the instructions below.
- International students should complete the Letter Request. Please contact International Student Center (ISC) with questions at (206) 296-6260 or isc@seattleu.edu.
- Domestic students should complete the Special Request Form (e-form) and select the I need a letter stating the following check box and indicate you are requesting a travel visa letter and include guest's full name and relationship to you. Please contact the Office of the Registrar at (206) 220-8030 or commencement@seattleu.edu if you need assistance.
Guest seating at the Climate Pledge Arena is General Admission and is first come, first served. Please only occupy the number of seats for which you have tickets to ensure all guests are provided with access to seating.
Guests requiring additional assistance due to limited mobility should notify the Climate Pledge Arena Guest Services member at the entry door for assistance with a wheelchair transport and guidance to accessible seating.
Climate Pledge Arena offers wheelchair accessible and low mobility seating on each level of the venue on a first come, first served basis.

Permitted Items
- Bag Policy: Clutches must be 4″w x 6″h x 1.5″d or smaller. Bags above this size MUST BE CLEAR and no larger than 14″w x 14″h x 6″d, 2 pockets maximum. Exceptions are made for medically necessary items and diaper bags. Please see our listed bag policy for more information
- Binoculars: Binocular cases must be no larger than 4″w x 6″h x 1.5″d
- Blankets or seating cushions permitted they go through security screening
- Booster seats
- Cameras: Personal still and digital cameras without a detachable lens. Camera cases must fit within our bag policy. For further information, please see our prohibited items list
- Portable phone chargers are allowed in for phone use. They are not allowed in if they are going to power another item (ex: LED costume lights)
- Poster Tubes: Made of cardboard are permitted but subject to security screening. Please reference the event detail place as some tours may prohibit the entry of poster tubes
- Sign Policy: Signs no larger than 24″x36″ – For events that allow signs, signs must be handheld, holdable by one person, and may not obstruct the view of other guests. Poles, sticks, or any apparatus to display signs are prohibited, and there may not be any items attached to the sign
- Strollers: If a stroller is unable to fit collapsed under your seat it must be checked in at a Guest Services Information Desk
- Umbrellas
- Water Bottles: Reusable (non-glass) water bottles are permitted. Bottles must be no larger than 32 oz and empty upon entry, including ice
Prohibited Items
The following items are prohibited for use, possession, display, or distribution at, on, or within Climate Pledge Arena:
- Animals unless a service animal, as defined by the American Disabilities Act
- Bags, packs, and luggage that are not in compliance with the Bag Policy (please see “Bag Policy” for more information)
- Cameras: Professional cameras, detachable lenses or external flash units, or recording equipment (aside from smartphones) for audio, image, or video recording purposes
- Chains of any kind (including wallet chains), spiked jewelry, or spiked apparel items
- Containers outside of our water bottle policy, including glass containers, cans, water bladders etc.
- Drones or other model aircrafts
- Explosives, including fireworks
- Frisbees, beach balls, inflatables, balloons or other projectiles
- Giveaway items that do not fit within our permitted items policy will be prohibited at future events
- Glass bottles or cans of any kind, shape, or size, regardless if empty or full.
- Hazardous items including fuels, torches, chemicals, batteries used to power prohibited items, or aerosols
- Laptops, iPads, and tablets
- Laser pointing devices, flashlights, or similar devices
- Noisemaking devices of any kind including whistles, air horns, vuvuzelas, and cow bells
- Outside alcohol, food, and beverage
- Poster tubes made of any material other than cardboard
- Sealed packages of any kind
- Selfie sticks or telescopic devices, including tripods or camera poles
- Signs: Items intended to create optical distraction or illusion including flags, banners, or signs larger than 24″x36″
- Skateboards, Roller Shoes, One Wheels, Segways, and helmets
- Tools, razor blades, scissors, knitting needles or other sewing/knitting equipment
- Weapons: including but not limited to actual, toy, or replica:
- Guns, firearms, firearm components/parts, ammunition and/or gun powder
- Knives of any size, brass knuckles, black jacks, or kubatons
- Martial arts weapons, night sticks, nunchucks, billy clubs, bats, stunguns/tasers, self-defense sprays, mace, pepper spray, sticks, or poles
Any other item deemed inappropriate or dangerous by Climate Pledge Arena and its league affiliates, in their sole discretion.
You will be asked to return any prohibited items to your car. Or it can be surrendered at the doors.
Photographs
Guests must remain in the stands - the floor is for graduating students, faculty, and staff only. Photographers will provide close up photo coverage which will be available through GradImages about 2 weeks after the event. Families and friends may take pictures with graduates outside the arena after the ceremony.
GradImages is the official photographer for our Commencement. Graduates at Seattle University can locate their graduation photos about 2 weeks after the event online by visiting the GradImages website.
The following two pieces of information are required to access their account:
- Last Name of the graduate
- Graduation Year

Livestream
A livestream of the ceremony will be available on the Commencement website on the day of the event and archived on the Commencement website and Seattle University YouTube channel following the event. This is a wonderful alternative for guests who are not able to attend in person.
