Our mission is to form and develop passionate, faith-filled, and just educators who are committed to serving in Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Seattle. We provide a holistic experience that integrates professional teaching experience, graduate-level education, and spiritual growth, all within a supportive community.

Founded in 2024 with the inaugural cohort starting in the summer of 2025, Seattle University's Catholic Schools Teacher Corps was established to address the growing need for committed and effective teachers in the Archdiocese of Seattle Catholic schools, particularly the most underserved Catholic schools.

  • The program pays for tuition, community housing (groups of four to eight), and provides a modest living stipend.
    • Students accepted in the CSTC program are required to reside in the community housing provided.
  • Participants will be placed in Catholic schools, giving them an opportunity to teach while helping schools fill needed teaching roles.
  1. Education
    • Teaching Placement
      • Participants are placed in Catholic schools within the Archdiocese of Seattle where they serve as full-time classroom teachers. These placements provide hands-on experience in diverse educational settings, helping participants grow into confident, effective educators.
    • Graduate Studies
      • Participants pursue a Master of Education in Transformational Teaching and Learning from the College of Education at Seattle University.  This program also results in a Washington State Resident teacher certificate. This academic component is designed to deepen participants' understanding of educational theory and practice while having a focus on anti-racist pedagogies.
  2. Community Living
    • Participants live in intentional communities with their peers. This living arrangement fosters personal growth, mutual support, and a deep sense of accompaniment. Community life is an integral part of the program, emphasizing shared experiences, reflection, and spiritual development.
  3. Spiritual Formation
    • Spiritual growth within the Ignatian tradition is at the heart of Seattle University's Catholic School Teacher Corps. Participants engage in regular retreats, prayer, and reflection, guided by experienced mentors. This formation helps educators integrate their faith into their teaching and personal lives.
