Orientation Essentials

Complete Your Housing Plan

• Completing your Housing Plan helps to inform us about whether you plan to live on-campus or commute to campus. You can fill out your Housing Application or Housing Exemption in the Housing Portal. For more information about completing a Housing Plan and on-campus living, review your Guide to Residence Hall Living. Additionally, you can visit the Housing & Residence Life webpage, email housing@seattleu.edu, or call (206) 296-6305.

• Deadline: Friday, March 1 (Priority Housing Applications Due; Housing Exemptions Due)

 

Submit Meningitis Agreement

• Washington State Law requires that information on meningococcal disease must be provided to every student prior to class registration. Submitting this form will acknowledge you have read the provided information.
• Deadline: Friday, March 15

Submit Final High School Transcripts Showing Graduation Date

• We will need your official high school transcript on file as confirmation that you have completed your high school degree. This document confirms your high school credits and helps with Academic Advising and Course Registration. You can submit your transcript by following the instructions when clicking on this New Student Checklist item in your Admissions Portal.
• Deadline: Friday, March 1

Anticipated College Credit Earned Form

• This form helps us understand whether you might be bringing any college credits with you to Seattle U that may count toward your degree. These may include credits earned at another college or university, such as through Running Start, and/or AP/IB/Cambridge exam scores. Sharing this information will help to guide your Academic Advising and Course Registration process.
• Deadline: Friday, March 1

Upload Your Campus Card Photo

• SU students are provided a photo ID called a Campus Card, which is your library card, gym pass, campus spending card, and access to campus buildings. In the coming days, check your email for an invitation from “SeattleU Online Photo onlinephoto@transactcampus.com” to click a link to “Upload Your Photo.” You will receive your Campus Card when you arrive on campus in September. Please contact servicedesk@seattleu.edu for any assistance.

Welcome to Seattle University Modules

• Our Orientation Canvas Modules are designed to give New Students the essential information they need to be successful at Seattle University. This Orientation Canvas Group will provide you with information about preparing for academics at SU, how to get involved on campus, and our Seattle U community values.
• All of the content in this Orientation Canvas Group will be available to you before and throughout Spring Quarter. Check your Seattle U email for an invitation to join and begin the course. 
• Deadline: March 22

Complete 'Voices for Change' Modules

• Voices for Change is an online program designed to promote a healthier and safer campus environment for everyone. Seattle U requires all incoming students to complete the program prior to attending classes. Module topics include inclusive community, sexual misconduct, bystander intervention, alcohol and other drugs, hazing, and bullying. You will receive an email from "Get Inclusive" with instructions to access your learning modules.
• Deadline: March 22

Complete ALEKS Math Placement Assessment

• Prior to registering for classes, all first-year students are required to complete the ALEKS Math Placement Assessment. Students with math scores from SAT, ACT, AP, or IB exams will have their scores evaluated by an Academic Advisor after completing the ALEKS Assessment. When you participate in course registration in July, the score that places you into the highest math course will be used. You may be exempt from completing the ALEKS Assessment if you have: (1) taken ALEKS at another college or university within the last year; or (2) earned college-level coursework. Visit Seattle U’s Math Placement webpage to learn more, and contact your Academic Advising Center to discuss specific questions.
• Deadline: Complete Before your Academic Advising Appointment

Academic Advising Workshop

• During this workshop, you and fellow Redhawks will meet your Academic Advising team from your school or college. You will meet other students from your academic major, learn about academic support resources, review recommended courses, and learn how to prepare for course registration.
• Fall 2023 Deadline: June 30
• Winter Quarter & Spring Quarter students will not attend a workshop, instead schedule a meeting with your Academic Advisor. Check your SU email for instructions to schedule your meeting.

Course Registration Workshop

• During this workshop, you and a small group of Redhawks from your school or college will meet with your Academic Advising team to register for courses. New students cannot register for courses without meeting with an Academic Advisor. After this workshop ends, you will have your Fall Quarter 2023 class schedule!
• Fall 2023 Deadline: July 21
• Winter Quarter & Spring Quarter students will not attend a workshop, instead schedule a meeting with your Academic Advisor to discuss registration. Check your SU email for instructions to schedule your meeting.

• If you have had an accommodation for a disability previously or have any questions about accommodations, please contact Disability Services. Newly admitted SU students are advised to start this process once they have confirmed admission to SU.
