Biography

Amit Shukla, PhD, is the Dean of the College of Science and Engineering at Seattle University, where he also occupies the Howard Wright Chair Professorship. Dr. Shukla is a scholar, researcher and leader, with an emphasis on innovation, partnerships and collaboration. The College of Science and Engineering is the fastest growing college at Seattle University.

Dr. Shukla serves as chief administrator of the College, providing vision and leadership for its long-term strategic and academic planning, faculty research and teaching innovation. Additionally, Dr. Shukla oversees the strengthening of the student experience, fosters community and industry partnerships, provides financial oversight, and oversees fundraising and alumni relations.

A staunch proponent of the teacher-scholar model, Dr. Shukla is a longtime advocate for inclusive excellence in STEM. Dr. Shukla is an expert in nonlinear dynamics and its applications to engineered and natural systems.  Prior to joining Seattle University, he was the department chair of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at Miami University (Ohio) where he was also a founding director of the Miami University Center for Assistive Technology. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from MNNIT (India), and a Master of Science and PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati.
