Biography

Joana is a dedicated professional with over six years of experience in recruiting, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), and project management. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, during which she conducted research on the success of dialogue facilitation in the work environment. She also holds a Nonprofit Management Certificate from the University of Washington. As an immigrant from Brazil, she brings a unique, personal understanding of navigating the immigration system. Her work in corporate America, particularly at Samsung, involved leading DEI initiatives, recruiting, managing Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), and building external partnerships to drive inclusion and equality in the workplace.

Outside of work, Joana enjoys the outdoors, taking full advantage of all that the Pacific Northwest has to offer. She loves hiking, and exploring nature, and is an avid fan of board games, movies, and fantasy novels. Like most people, she loves traveling, and worked in a college internship teaching students in Denmark. With her diverse background and expertise, Joana offers a unique perspective to the education industry, combining her corporate insights with her deep commitment to educational and community growth.
