Margaret Hudson, PhD

Professor Emerita

Biography

My research has been in ultrastructure and development of green algae and also in approaches to teaching through collaborations in the Physiology Education Research Consortium. For the past few years, I have been assisting Dr. Theodora Shuman and her senior mechanical engineering students in projects focused on oil production and extraction from algae.

Education

  • PhD, Botany, University of Washington (1974)
  • BS, Botany, University of Washington (1968)

Courses Taught

I have taught in the general biology series, human anatomy and physiology, vascular plant taxonomy, plant physiology, and field ecology, and have encouraged and supervised many students in individual projects related to plants and to health careers. I enjoy helping students discover their own strengths and talents as well as how interesting, versatile, and well-suited to their environments living things can be.
