The Disability Services Office provides support for students with a wide range of needs: learning disabilities, physical disabilities, mental health conditions, chronic illnesses, and more. Depending on your individual needs and situation, you may be eligible for reasonable accommodations that provide you equal access to programs, services, and opportunities on campus.

A disability is defined as “a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities.” A disability may be temporary or permanent. Major life activities include (but are not limited to):

  • Learning
  • Reading/Writing/Computing
  • Focusing/Thinking
  • Communicating
  • Sleeping
  • Breathing
  • Eating/Digestion

If you’re experiencing a challenge with any of these life activities while on campus, or think you will once you arrive, we encourage you to learn more about our office and apply for accommodations. You can apply for accommodations at any point during the year, though some accommodations may have priority deadlines for timely implementation.

Perhaps you’ve had accommodations before in high school or at a community college, or maybe this is a new experience for you. The various pages on our website will give you more information about your rights and responsibilities as an adult student, how to apply for accommodations, and other resources available to you on and off-campus. We encourage you to familiarize yourself with this information so you can take charge of your education and be a better advocate for yourself.
