Kayla Shull, ’14, ’21 APNI-DNP, is an adventurous learner. After graduating from Seattle University with undergraduate degrees in Interdisciplinary Studies and Psychology in 2014, she worked as a child development researcher, but felt that something was missing. Wanting to engage with people more deeply, she was drawn to nursing and working with substance abuse populations. Diving into Seattle University's APNI-DNP program without any experience in nursing took courage, but the fear of failure did not stop her because she believes mistakes are an inevitable part of learning. Now working with inmate patients at King County Jail Health Services, she finally feels like what she is doing is meaningful and purposeful.
