Student Summer Housing

During the summer, Seattle University offers safe, convenient and affordable housing in Seattle if you’re a current student. Our residences offer easy access to all that Seattle has to offer. Resident advisors and desk staff are also available during the summer for added support.

All summer housing will be in the Murphy Apartment Complex. Application opens April 15, 2024 at 12 PM PST on the Housing Portal.

Qualifying for Summer Housing

You don’t have to take summer classes to live in summer housing. As long as you are an enrolled student at Seattle University, you can qualify. If you graduated during the current academic year, however, you are not eligible to live on campus for the summer.

Selecting a meal plan for summer is not required, regardless of classification status. The below meal plans are available for purchase for the summer period. However, we ask that you strongly consider your plans for dining over the summer, given that Redhawk Dining may have limited hours.

Additionally, please note that you will be assigned an apartment with a fully functional kitchen, and you may want to cook more.

Although meal plan funds from summer will carry over to fall, we strongly encourage you consider a meal plan option that will meet your summer needs.

Summer Room Preferences

Students are not able to indicate room type preferences for summer. If you wish to live in a shared space, you may indicate a roommate preference on the Housing Application.

Important Note: You may indicate your housing type preference on the Housing Application, but please note that, depending on space, you may be assigned a shared occupancy type, even if you indicate you prefer a single occupancy room type. We thank you for your patience and understanding as not all room types can be used as single occupancy space.

Summer Roommate Preferences

If you select to live in a shared occupancy space, you may indicate a roommate preference on the Housing Application. Please note, that this other person needs to have a completed housing application on file, so our office to make an assignment for them. We recommend that you speak to your potential summer roommate and ensure they have submitted their housing application and have indicated your name in this section of the application.

Additionally, if you indicate a roommate preference, you may still be assigned to a space with other roommates. For example, if you only indicate one other person here, you and that other person may be assigned to a quad apartment, where you will share the space with two other individuals. Choosing a roommate does not automatically guarantee a room assignment where only two people can be assigned.

Please note that indicating a roommate on the application is optional. If you decide not to choose a specific roommate, then you will be assigned a roommate (if assigned to a shared occupancy space). Please note that even if you indicated above a preference for a single room space, you may still be assigned to a shared occupancy room with a roommate.

Other Logistical Information

If you are not currently living on campus, you will receive more information about your move in logistics on your approved move-in date. Please expect to receive more information in mid-to-late May.

If you are currently living on campus, you will receive more information about moving to your summer room assignment when you are assigned a space mid-May. If you currently live on campus, you are automatically approved for a late-stay request until summer occupancy begins. The spring-to-summer housing transition date will be Friday, June 14, 2024. Current residents will not need to find alternative housing options between June 8, 2024 (when the halls close for summer) and June 14, 2024.

If you will be a Murphy resident for the upcoming Fall Quarter, we will try and assign you to your room space for the fall quarter, however we are not able to guarantee this. You may need to move again at the end of the summer period.
