Welcome BIPOC Students!

We support our BIPOC students by providing opportunities to cultivate a sense of belonging and community, gain leadership skills and tools for advocacy, and connecting students to resources. Below, you'll find some of our signature programs and annual events. We want to journey alongside students in navigating the highs and lows of the college experience and invite students to attend our programs and visit us at the MOSAIC Center.

ConnectSU

CLP+ 2023

CLP+

CLP+ (Connections Leadership Program+) is an immersive experience designed to support new, incoming students of color and first-generation college students to make social connections, learn about educational resources, and develop leadership skills as they transition into college. CLP+ begins as a pre-fall immersion program and continues throughout the Fall quarter with regular touchpoints with staff and peer mentors. This program is open to all FTIC and new transfer students.

Rooted Retreat

Rooted is an annual retreat co-facilitated with Campus Ministry focused on creating space for students to find rest, explore intersecting identities, cultivate community, and have fun. Rooted is a retreat that centers the experiences and needs of students of color, and it is open to all students. The Rooted Retreat typically takes place in January. 

Graduating Students of Color Celebration (GSOCC)

GSOCC is an annual end-of-year celebration where we honor and celebrate our graduating students’ brilliance, resilience, and strength as a community. This celebration centers the accomplishments and experiences of our students of color. We invite all graduating students, families, friends, colleagues, and supporters to join us at GSOCC. 

Other BIPOC Student Resources & Programs

The IL is a community space dedicated to creating a sense of community and belonging for students of color as well as undocumented students. In the IL, you will find fun and light-hearted programs, reflective and educational conversations, club meetings and more. The IL is located in Student Center 322. 

STEP is an 8-week program hosted during the Winter Quarter that centers the experiences and needs of second and third year students of color who are committed to personal growth, professional formation, leadership development, identity exploration, and community building. This program is open to all Seattle University students. Registration information for STEP can be found on ConnectSU around December. 

We invite all students, staff, and faculty to join us for our monthly lunchtime gathering that is focused on creating community, connection and fun! This is a space that centers BIPOC students and features food from local BIPOC or minority-owned businesses.
