Men’s Tennis Player Julian Worn Earns Stan Bates Award

Worn is the second Redhawk ever to earn the prestigious award, joining softball player Ally Choate.

Congratulations to men’s tennis player Julian Worn, selected as the Western Athletic Conference's Stan Bates Award winner for the 2023-24 academic year. Named in honor of former WAC Commissioner Stan Bates, the annual award is given to the conference’s top male and female scholar-athletes and recognizes athletic, academic and community accomplishments.

Worn is the second Redhawk ever to earn the Stan Bates Award, joining softball player Ally Choate, who earned the award in 2021.

"We are thrilled for this recognition of Julian's academic accomplishments," says Director of Athletics Shaney Fink. "This is another tremendous opportunity he has earned as he continues his academic journey."

The winner is also endowed a $10,000 postgraduate scholarship. Currently Worn is currently working in a postgraduate internship at the Allen Institute in the neural dynamics section of research.

In four years at Seattle University, Worn won 29 singles matches, including eight as a senior. He served as Seattle University's number one in singles for three years.
