Supporting Academic Mentoring
Sundborg Center for Community Engagement gets funding boost for the SUYI Redhawk Academic Mentoring Program.
The Sundborg Center for Community Engagement (CCE) received a grant from the Liberty Mutual Foundation and Safeco Insurance Fund to provide academic mentoring to Washington Middle School students furthest from education justice, fostering their academic, social and emotional growth.
Seattle University has partnered with Washington Middle School for 16 years, co-developing with school leaders the project now known as the Redhawk Academic Mentoring Program (RAMP). Led by LaKesha Kimbrough and Nakiya Baker and with this support, RAMP will employ 20 SU students to provide 22 weeks of school-year academic mentoring and programming to 50 scholars. This marks the seventh year of support.
