Support the College of Nursing

Private support enables us to respond to these emerging trends and help meet the educational needs of our students.

The Role of Private Support

We invite you to join us in an exciting and important endeavor. Educating the next generation of nursing leaders who will have a positive impact and help change the lives of the vulnerable.

At the College of Nursing, our priority is to develop nurses and prepare them for the future of health care. This requires ingenuity, flexibility, foresight, and a process of constant change in what we teach and how we teach.

Nurses being educated today will face challenges in the future, including multiple new technologies, increased deployment of interdisciplinary teams, more surgeries and other procedures done in out-of-hospital settings or with minimal hospitalization, and more patients who are older and have multiple chronic conditions.

At the same time, nurses will work in a far more culturally, socially, and economically diverse environment that demands additional preparation beyond what has traditionally been provided. Our goal is to meet the educational needs of the nurses who will respond to these situations.

Private support enables us to respond to these emerging trends and help meet the educational needs of our students. Your philanthropic support is an opportunity, not an obligation, to make a difference, and to invest in a social purpose that serves the greater good.

We recognize your annual gift of $1,000 or more with membership in the Seattle University President’s Club and we are honored to include you as a leadership donor to the college.

Current Priorities and Opportunities

Below is a partial list of our current priorities. Each is an opportunity to invest in the future of nursing that is direct and measurable.

Student Emergency Fund

This fund provides financial assistance to College of Nursing students who are unable to meet immediate, essential expenses because of temporary hardships related to an emergency situation or crisis. It supports students whose financial hardship is impacting their ability to fully participate in their academic program.

Heart with the word stay strong

Clinical Performance Lab Fund

Private support for the Lab enables us to acquire new equipment and technologies, including the use of patient simulations and interdisciplinary patient care scenarios that closely reflect what the students will encounter in practice.

Annual Student Scholarships

Your support of the College of Nursing Annual Scholarship Fund helps undergraduate students achieve their educational goal of becoming a registered nurse. In addition to providing tuition assistance, these scholarships allow students to focus on their studies rather than working to defray school expenses.

Dean’s Fund for Excellence

Unrestricted gifts to the Dean’s Fund for Excellence provide essential support for a wide variety of activities, from faculty research to urgently needed equipment to student educational opportunities. The Dean’s ability to award funds enables us to take advantage of many important opportunities that arise on short notice, or which cannot be funded with other resources.

Global Engagement Fund

Provides funding for nursing programs and faculty initiatives in Guatemala, Belize, Sweden and other partner countries. Experiencing health care delivery in another culture provides significant opportunities for students to look more critically at themselves, the work they contribute, and the society in which they live.
