Conflict Resolution at Seattle University invites students to reflect on their experiences in moments of conflict and engage with each other and the community to resolve disputes that arise in our diverse and inclusive community.

Educational Pillars/Learning Outcomes

Engagement

  • Participants will engage in discussion with others about a given conflict.
  • Participants will be active in their commitment to an agreed-upon solution to a conflict.
  • Participants will develop a future-oriented plan to commit to future relationships with others.

Discernment

  • Participants will be able to identify specific concerns leading to a conflict.
  • Participants will put their concerns into context with their values and experiences.
  • Participants will be able to understand the perspectives of others with whom they are in conflict.

Communication

  • Participants will be able to articulate their experiences to others, including those with whom they are in conflict.
  • Participants will be able to share their desired outcomes with others, including those with whom they are in conflict.

The Conflict Resolution program provides four core services for students

Often, we want to address an issue but are not sure how to keep the conversation on track. Our team will support you and others in the conversation by helping facilitate a discussion about a given conflict.

Effective conflict resolution involves a deep understanding of self and our own motivations. Our program offers self-service resources and handouts, as well as a space for self reflection and discernment before entering into a difficult conversation.
