Electrical Engineering That Powers the Future

Electrical engineering is a diverse field with many areas of specialization. Electrical engineers can specialize in many areas including Electronics, wireless communications, power, controls, and signal processing. Seattle University's electrical engineering program allows you to investigate these diverse topics while pursuing the Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree.

In our ABET-accredited program, project-driven, self-directed learning is integrated throughout the curriculum.

You’ll build your knowledge and expand your horizons as you gain the skills you need for a career in digital or analog electronics, communications and signal processing, and new power and energy technologies that are transforming the world. You can choose your area of specialization and prepare for the career you really want.

You can also participate in humanitarian engineering. Other students have helped deliver electricity to developing countries or joined a team focused on conservation and sustainability. Our well-rounded education helps you develop your leadership skills and personal value system so you can bring your full self to your work.

Student Outcomes

At the time of graduation, students in the electrical engineering program are expected to have

  • An ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics.
  • An ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors.
  • An ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences,
  • An ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts.
  • An ability to function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives.
  • An ability to develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions.
  • An ability to acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies.

Personal Growth: live to their potential, pursuing their passions and interests with creativity, curiosity, and innovation, and apply the Ignatian Pedagogical Paradigm of context, experience, reflection, action, and evaluation in their lifelong learning.

The electrical engineering program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, https://www.abet.org, under the commission's General Criteria and Program Criteria for Electrical Engineering.

Student Enrollment and Graduation Data

The electrical engineering program enrolled 50 students in Fall 2024 and awarded 11 degrees in academic year 2023-24.
