The MBA in Sport and Entertainment Management (MBA SEM) program provides an exceptional opportunity for students to engage deeply with the fast-paced, dynamic sport and entertainment industry. Through the Program’s strategic partnerships, students may become MBA SEM Associates, gaining unparalleled, hands-on experience, professional insights, and career-building exposure. Program Mission

Through the combined efforts of our program and its partners, the MBA in Sport and Entertainment Management aims to equip students with essential skills, industry experiences, and professional connections to thrive in the competitive sport and entertainment landscape.

To apply, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Enrolled full-time in the MBA in Sport and Entertainment Management Program as a first-year student and maintaining good academic standing. This includes completion of all course requirements for the Introduction to Sport and Entertainment Industry class (SBLR 5001).
  • Timely and complete submission of all application materials.
  • Acceptance per the formal process detailed below.

To apply for the MBA SEM Associate position, students must submit the following materials by email to the MBA SEM Director, Geneva Sedgwick (gsedgwick@seattleu.edu) by December 20, 2025:

  • Resume: A current, professional resume.
  • Position Statement: A brief essay explaining the candidate’s interest in the position, relevant qualifications, and any personal challenges or adversities overcome in their academic or career journey.

A selection committee, comprising the MBA SEM Director, a faculty member chosen by the Dean of Albers, a second-year MBA SEM student who has completed his/her/their internship, and two members of the MBA SEM Board of Advisors, will review applications. Accepted students will by notified by January 15, 2026 and will then apply for positions offered by the Program’s industry partners through this MBA SEM Associate Program. The hiring process spans January to March, with placements beginning shortly after.

Responsibilities and Expectations

MBA SEM Associates will work closely with industry professionals, gaining valuable insights and practical experience. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Brand Ambassadors: Represent the MBA SEM program at key industry events, promoting the program's mission and reinforcing its positive reputation.
  2. Social Media Engagement: Actively manage an online presence by sharing updates and insights across platforms like Instagram, LinkedIn, and X to increase program visibility.
  3. Program Collaboration: Contribute as a member of the MBA SEM Associates Board, offering feedback to program leadership and helping drive continuous improvement. The Associates Board will meet in early October 2025.
