President's Updates

As we watch the devastating scenes coming out of Southern California, our thoughts are with all who are impacted by the wildfires, particularly those members of the Seattle University family who reside in or have ties to the region.

Today is the Feast of the Epiphany. For members of our community who trace their roots to Latin America, the celebration of the Three Kings is a day for giving gifts and spending time with family.

I am pleased to announce that Seattle University and Cornish College of the Arts have signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) to join together, with Cornish becoming Cornish College of the Arts at Seattle University.

In a few days, we will celebrate Thanksgiving. It can seem incongruous to express gratitude at a time when many people are not feeling particularly happy with the state of the world. But the practice of giving thanks becomes more (not less) essential in challenging times.

We are writing to share significant updates regarding Seattle University Athletics, including the difficult decision to discontinue three sport programs.

As Seattle University closes this Monday to observe Veterans Day, our deep gratitude is with the men and women who have served, and continue to serve, our country.
