Feast Fest: Celebrating the Feast of St. Ignatius

We are excited to invite you to a special celebration of the Feast of St. Ignatius on Wednesday, July 31.

Dear Seattle University Community,

We are excited to invite you to a special celebration of the Feast of St. Ignatius on Wednesday, July 31. Named for the founder of the Society of Jesus—or the Jesuits—who died on July 31, 1556, St. Ignatius’ feast day is celebrated worldwide with a Mass and fiesta. As a Jesuit institution, we are marking this day with the inaugural Feast Fest, an opportunity for our campus community and wider Ignatian family to gather, celebrate our mission and have fun.

The festivities will begin with a celebration and complimentary ice cream, carnival and lawn games for the SU community—faculty, staff and students who are with us for the summer—on the Union Green from 3 to 4:30 p.m. University offices will close during this time so faculty and staff can attend.

At 4:30 p.m. we will head to Mass at the Chapel of St. Ignatius. Bob Grimm, S.J., will celebrate the liturgy. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Following Mass, we will have a Community Carnival on the Union Green from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Seattle University alumni, partners and friends from Jesuit parishes, schools and organizations in the region are also being invited to celebrate our founder and shared work. There will be something for everyone—games a bounce house and inflatable slide, axe-throwing, balloon artistry, face painting, all-ages crafts, delicious food and a beer garden.

You are invited participate in any and all of these activities and to bring your family and friends. To help with the count, please RSVP at Feast Fest. We hope to see you there!

Respectfully,
