President Peñalver Tests Positive for COVID-19

Earlier today, after recently returning from travel on the East Coast, Seattle University President Eduardo Peñalver tested positive for COVID-19. He is following public health and university protocols, which include isolating at home. 

“I am grateful to be up to date on my vaccinations and experiencing very mild symptoms,” President Peñalver said. “Vaccinations are one of the most effective ways to protect against severe illness and reduce transmission. While I am disappointed that I will have to miss at least some upcoming university activities and events while I recover, I look forward to seeing everyone once I clear health protocols and am able to return to campus.” 

President Peñalver will continue carrying out university business from home. Individuals known to have been close contacts have already been notified.
