Therese Huston

Therese Huston received her BA from Carleton College and her MS and PhD in Cognitive Psychology from Carnegie Mellon University. She was awarded a prestigious post-doctoral fellowship with the Center for the Neural Basis of Cognition at the University of Pittsburgh and was the Founding Director of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (now the Center for Faculty Development) from 2004–2010.

SCHOLARSHIP

Therese is a thought leader on feedback, decision-making, gender, and unconscious bias. Her most recent book, Let's Talk: Make Effective Feedback your Superpower, is a game-changing guide for managers who want to give great feedback (Portfolio / Penguin Random House, 2021). Her 2016 book, How Women Decide: What’s True, What’s Not, and What Strategies Spark the Best Choices, debunks popular negative stereotypes about women as decision-makers (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, 2016). She’s written for the New York Times and Harvard Business Review, and her very first book, Teaching What You Don't Know, was published by Harvard University Press (2012).
