New Chair and Director Institute

This institute is designed for newly appointed department chairs, program directors, and assistant and associate deans who all have other faculty reporting to them. These individuals play a crucial role in the smooth functioning of the university and in supporting and developing their faculty colleagues. To enhance academic leaders’ capabilities and effectiveness in their new role, this leadership orientation initiative addresses four areas of professional development:

  • Leadership style self-assessment
  • Diversity resistance and embracement
  • Organizational planning and goal-setting
  • Working within the university administrative structure

 We run NCDI once there are enough new academic leaders to create a cohort.
